We have just finished the Fall School For English Teachers
The School was dedicated this year to Teaching Skills
The beneficiary of the project will be school and university teachers of English language from Moldova. The contents of the sessions, seminars and workshops will focus on promoting up-to-date strategies and techniques of teaching English. We plan to organize one workshop per week for school teachers, one seminar per month for university lecturers for the period September 2009 – May 2010, and during the Fall and Spring breaks we intend to organize 4-day Schools. Besides, we plan to host 4 events aimed at promoting American culture, customs and history.
Each week there will be one or two presents on a topic of interest for either school or university teachers. The total number of workshops per year 2009-2010 will be 52, both school constituting 18 workshops. According to the teacher’s annual feedback it was decided to dedicate month of September to “Demonstrative Lessons. Sharing Experience”; October to “Grammar”; November to “Teaching Skills: reading, writing, listening, speaking” and December to “Culture and Traditions.” At the end of the first semester in 2009 there will be organised one more survey to determine the wishes of the teachers for the second semester in 2010. Besides there will be 4 cultural events celebrating such holidays as Halloween, Christmas, black History Month and St. Valentine’s Day.
The purpose of celebrating these events is to supply teachers with ideas for organizing events celebrations of these holidays in their institutions.
Moreover, ETRC is planning to organize Fall School and spring School for junior and novice English teachers aiming at initiating them in the process of professional development in RM and for experienced teachers aimed at helping them to prepare the documents and take the examinations to receive a tenured position.
